Ten questions for our English teacher Adrienne

Hello,

we want you to meet our English teacher Adrienne. We asked her ten questions about her life, her job and about her homecountry Ireland.
We hope you enjoy our little Interview in English.

You were born and raised in Dublin. How come you moved to Germany?
I love the German language and wanted to learn it properly in the country. I chose to move to Northern Germany because I was told that German is spoken better and clearer here.

How long have you been living in Germany?
I have been living in Germany for roughly 30 years now.

How long have you been working as an English teacher?
I have been working with languages all my life, but I started working as a teacher 15 years ago.

When did you start working with the Popken Fashion Group?
About four years ago.

What do you like about working with the Popken Fashion Group?
The company is young and dynamic. Of course I love fashion myself, and the girls and guys are always top-styled.

Do you only teach trainees or also “normal” employees?
At the Popken Fashion Group I teach trainees and a quality insurance group. In general I work with pupils, students, employees, trainees and management. I participate in court cases to interpret.

What makes your job special for you?

I love working with both languages and being able to switch between them. Working with trainees gives me great job satisfaction, seeing how my students grow from shy English speakers into fluent negotiators.

What are your day to day things to do at work?
It is really important to be prepared: I have to do a lot of preparation; reading and research to try find interesting topics for my students.

What’s your favorite thing about your job as an English teacher?
I love meeting people from all walks of life and I enjoy working with all the different companies (especially Ulla Popken).

For anyone who wants to visit Dublin – any recommendations?
Definitely the Temple Bar District! The Guinness Storehouse is really interesting, enjoying a pint of Guinness in the Skyline Bar, taking in the fantastic view of Dublin. For food: You can get the best Fish n’ Chips in Bray. For the best ice-cream go to Teddy’s in Dun Laoghaire. (To reach Dun Laoghaire and Bray just use the DART).
